There is so much death in the world nowadays that they had to open elementary schools for young deathlings.
They start off with fun exercises like swinging their little scythes at each other. (they are incorporeal, so they can't hurt themselves this way) At the same time they learn how to keep the blades sharp and clean. Small deaths generally enjoy bragging to their friends and adults about how tidy they can keep their tools.
On second year they have to master the knowledge about the moral systems of human world. Even if still children, their natural predispositions make learning such a complicated subject easy and instinctual.
Last year is spent practicing the difficult art of shapeshifting. Also, the deathlings use to go out on their first field exercises, where they get to use their powers under watchful eye of their teacher. The school ends with both practical and theoretical exam. Even if it is difficult, very few fail it, due to their dedication.
I have always liked this artwork ever since you uploaded it, but it took me awfully long time to comment on it. Sorry about that. D:
As for the story, it's a pretty fascinating concept. Somehow cute too in an eerie way (it IS about death after all). As for the artwork, I like the whole look: the composition, the technique with pencils and only one color for a nice contrast. The details on the woman/teacher are amazing, especially the patterns on her corset and on her dress. It's kinda cute to see their tiny hands holding something that looks like (note)books. Oh, and that must be one of the most beautiful lanterns I've seen. ^^
But damn, if i only could change her FAAACEEEE! It is so ugly! This could be really good and i could actually like it if i could only change that damn face! ;_; But no can do, too much colorpencil on it already...
Nyyuuuu~ It's not ugly! :< But if you're really determined, then you should see it like this: She's Death (Teacher), so I think and feel she's supposed to be part ugly and part beautiful.
I like this piece a lot, not just the yellowish ligh which adds a creepy atmosphere to the ehhh, creepy pic! but the theme, it's ... strange, weird, original and it attracted me at 1st sight! Really good job!

It's dark but beautiful. Splendid work, I say!
